Nordex plans to begin serial production of the system in the fourth quarter, initially for the German market and in the medium term also for other key markets.
The manufacturer and its development partner, Danish radar specialist Terma, had been granted certification for the system early last month.
It is based on active radar and can monitor the surrounding airspace within a radius of 18km.
