The Nordex Group has received an order to supply a further 29 turbines of its N131/3900 series for the second phase of the Syvash wind project in Ukraine.

After the 113MW second phase will be installed, Syvash in the Kherson region on the north shore of Lake Syvash will be the largest wind farm in the Eastern European country with a total capacity of 246MW, the German-Spanish wind turbine OEM said.

Contract partner Powerchina will build the wind farm for local project company SyvashEnergoProm, a joint venture between Norwegian developer NBT and French renewable power producer Total Eren.

Nordex in February already had announced it won an 133MW order for a first 34 machines for the wind farm.

The electricity generated from Syvash will be sold to state-owned wholesale power market operator Energorynok.

Once the entire wind farm is completed, it is expected to feed 840,000 MWh of clean electricity a year into the grid and can supply approximately the needs of 100,000 households. It is expected to reduce CO 2 emissions by 465,000 tonnes per year.
