The Nordex Group is expanding its presence in Greece with orders for several wind farms in Greece by developer Terna Energy that total 108MW in capacity.

"We are delighted that Terna Energy, the largest developer, operator and owner of renewable power plants in Greece, has opted for our turbine technology," said Nordex chief sales officer Patxi Landa.

To strengthen its activities in Greece, Nordex last summer had opened a sales office in Athens.

The order for 36 turbines of different models includes a five-year service contract with an option for an extension of another five years.

Terna currently has an installed capacity of 986MW. With 561MW most of that capacity is located in Greece, while another 293MW are in the US, and a further 132MW in Southeast Europe.

The developer also has 301MW under construction or ready for construction.

Nordex in 2016 had already received a 30MW order from Terna for strong-wind projects near Athens.
