Onshore wind turbines with ratings of 10MW or more will be possible as manufacturers become more innovative and further increase the size of generators and rotors, Ibrahim Özarslan, chief executive at Nordex’s Europe division, told Recharge.
The German OEM in September unveiled a new 6MW turbine with a 175-metre rotor diameter, the N175/6.X model for medium and low-wind sites, which it claims boosts energy yields by up to 22% compared to its predecessor model.
