The fate of New York’s premier offshore wind supply chain project, a planned $350m tower manufacturing facility adjacent to the Port of Albany, faces legal and regulatory opposition from residents and federal agencies as it awaits key permits.

“We recommend that the project not be authorized as currently proposed due to the substantial and unacceptable impacts to aquatic resources of national importance,” Michael Pentony, regional administrator for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) wrote in a 2 August letter to US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), as reported by local media.
