The US state of New York took another key step forward on its quest for 9GW of offshore wind power by 2035 with the signing of a purchase and sales agreement (PSA) with Equinor and BP for nearly 2.5GW of generation from the Empire Wind 2 and Beacon Wind projects off the east coast.

The PSA signed with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (Nyserda) formally closes the January 2021 solicitation in which the 1.26GW Empire Wind 2 and 1.23GW
