New York state’s first offshore wind farm, the 132MW South Fork, has taken a major stride toward start-up, with the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) setting the seal on its review of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) of the project being developed off the coast of Long Island.

BOEM, the agency within the Department of the Interior that manages development of the outer continental shelf, called the completion of the EIS “a significant step towards achieving the Biden-Harris administration’s goal of accelerating responsible development of the renewable energy on public lands in offshore waters as a way of tackling the climate crisis and creating union jobs.”
