New US offshore wind lease sales timing 'still under development': BOEM

The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) does not anticipate holding offshore wind lease sales later this year and timing of potential ones in 2021 and beyond is “still under development,” an agency spokesperson told Recharge.

“We are in the planning stages for additional wind energy areas in the Gulf of Maine, the New York Bight, offshore the Carolinas, California and Hawaii,” the spokesperson said, noting BOEM does not have a formal schedule for offshore wind lease auctions.
