Mauricio Tolmasquim, president of the energy research centre EPE, notes that the unregulated market is beginning to show interest in wind power and tender rules have been adjusted to accommodate that demand.
“Wind is reaching a price where it could be interesting for some big consumers,” who buy on the unregulated market, says Tolmasquim.
Wind has been sold at an average rate of R$148/MWh ($84), and the unregulated market has been paying about the same recently.
