New Mexico lowest cost western US wind project state – study

If you want to build a 300MW wind farm using present technology in the western US, the lowest cost state is New Mexico followed by Montana, Colorado and Wyoming and the most expensive is California, according to a newly-released study.

Tax policies, wind resource, and construction and labor costs were the most significant “determinants” used in the University of Wyoming study for estimating average costs of energy, or ACOE, in the 11 western states.
