New Jersey became the first state to formally ask regional grid operator PJM to embed its offshore wind goal into transmission planning, in what was hailed as a statement of leadership by the US industry whose fast growth poses future power delivery challenges.
“This announcement signals to other states that New Jersey is ready to deploy innovative transmission frameworks to advance offshore wind energy as part of its larger state energy portfolio,” the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) said.
