Global offshore wind number-one Orsted unveiled a new corporate structure and changes in top management – including the appointment of long-serving executive Martin Neubert to the role of deputy group CEO.

The changes, announced a few weeks after Mads Nipper took over from Henrik Poulsen as Orsted CEO, will from 4 February see the Danish group reorganised around a “primarily functional structure” of three units – Commercial, EPC & Operations, and Onshore. The new set-up replaces the existing Offshore, Onshore, and Markets & Bioenergy structure.

Neubert, with the company since 2008 and currently CEO of Orsted Offshore, will head the Commercial unit as chief commercial officer (CCO), as well as joining the executive board as deputy group CEO alongside Nipper and finance chief Marianne Wiinholt.

Orsted has started a hunt for a CCO for the EPC & Operations division, with Nipper leading it until the role is filled.

The Onshore business will continue to be led by current unit CEO Declan Flanagan.

The shake-up also sees the departure from Orsted of Markets & Bioenergy CEO Morten Buchgreitz and offshore EPC head Anders Lindberg.

Nipper, who joined Orsted on 1 January from Danish engineering group Grundfos, said: “Orsted is strongly positioned to tap into the future growth potential in the global renewables markets.

“With the new organisation we’re implementing now, we want to establish an even stronger customer and market focus, further strengthen the focus on EPC and operations, and support the scaling of our organisation as we continue our strong growth trajectory in the years to come.”

Orsted is set to announce its final results for 2020 next week, but has already said it expects to beat its full-year earnings guidance after a strong year-end.

Neubert named deputy CEO in Orsted shake-up at Danish green giant
