Possible negative bidding outcomes at future German offshore wind tenders – as foreseen in a law amendment proposal recently approved by Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cabinet – won’t work, and could endanger the construction of projects at sea, the chief financial officer of the world’s second largest offshore wind operator said.

Offshore wind is a great opportunity for Germany to speed up its energy transition and exit coal at an earlier date, but only if the government provides a better framework, RWE CFO Markus Krebber said at a media call on first half results.
