GLIA’s first project will be Maine Green Line - a hybrid land-and-sea high-voltage direct current (HVDC) line with 1GW throughput capacity (expandable to 2GW) of wind from northern Maine to Massachusetts, firmed up by imports of hydropower from eastern Canada.

Cianbro Development, based in Maine, will also form part of that project.

“We wanted to create the most efficient way to meet the clean energy mandates of New England states and did so through innovative thinking on how to bring wind energy and hydro together into the market,” says Anbaric founder Ed Krapels.
