Offshore turbine deployment is set to become the wind power sector’s main growth engine after 2022 as installations on land plateau, according to latest figures from BloombergNEF.

The research group, whose forecasts are among the most closely watched in the clean energy industry, predicts sea-based wind will pass the 10GW annual installations mark for the first time in 2021, and in 2030 exceed 30GW of new capacity – a quarter of all new turbine additions that year.
