Germany risks losing more than 8,000 jobs if it doesn’t change its long-term offshore wind target – but could add 10,000 if the goal is raised to reflect the government’s 2030 climate goals, a new study claims.

The offshore wind sector currently employs 24,500 people and generates about €9.8bn ($10.9bn) in revenues in Germany, Europe’s second-largest offshore wind market, said a survey of almost 800 industry participants carried out by the wind:research institute between November 2018 and April 2019.
