Vineyard Wind has named MHI Vestas the preferred turbine supplier for its 800MW offshore wind project under development off the southern coast of Massachusetts, in a landmark deal for the budding US offshore market.
MHI Vestas will supply 84 of its V164-9.5MW machines for Vineyard’s industry-shaping project, the developer said in a statement. The project is set to enter construction next year, with the first 400MW phase due on line in 2021 and the second phase the following year.
