The 950MW Moray East project in Scotland has named MHI Vestas as preferred supplier, confirming a long-standing expectation that the OEM was in line to equip the wind farm.
The Danish-Japanese manufacturer is set to supply 100 of its V164-9.5MW machines – the world’s largest currently being commercially marketed – when it enters service 22km off the coast in the Outer Moray Firth.
Moray East, officially named Moray Offshore Windfarm East, is being led by Portugal’s EDPR, which owns 77% of the project, with French energy giant Engie holding a further 23%.
