The cabinet of German Chancellor Angela Merkel this week approved legislation to speed-up planning of infrastructure projects, which it hopes will also revive stalled onshore wind expansion in the country by shortening the permitting process.

“With the Investment Acceleration Act, a big step has been taken towards faster planning and approval procedures,” economics and energy minister Peter Altmaier said.

“And for the onshore wind energy sector, it is also a good signal for the energy transition.
