Orsted-Eversource developer joint venture (JV) Sunrise Wind has revealed in the construction and operation plan (COP) for its eponymous offshore wind project in the US Atlantic that it is exploring opportunities for power sales beyond the contract already inked with New York state, potentially boosting project capacity to 1.3GW.

Sunrise Wind initially signed a 25-year Offshore Wind Renewable Energy Certificate (OREC) deal for 880MW – with the option to raise the capacity by 5% to 924MW – in 2019 with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
