Massachusetts has signed five-year lease agreements with developers Mayflower Wind and Vineyard Wind to use the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal (MCT) as the primary staging and deployment base for construction and installation of their contracted offshore projects off the state’s southern coast.

The deals, which take effect on 1 January 2023, are worth more than $32.5m but have different values, “reflective of the projects’ distinct timeframes and lease terms”, Robert FitzPatrick, director of government affairs, at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), said in an email to Recharge.
