President Donald Trump’s administration has awarded a $15.4m federal grant to the Port of New Bedford in Massachusetts that it will partly utilise to create additional sites for offshore wind staging.

The funding is from a Department of Transportation (DOT) programme called Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD).

New Bedford’s Marine Commerce Terminal (MCT), which is part of the port’s infrastructure, was purpose-built in 2014 for offshore wind and designed to have the highest uniform-load capacity of any quayside facility on the US East Coast.
