Abu Dhabi’s Masdar has signed an agreement with the investment and foreign trade ministry of Uzbekistan and the country’s grid operator to design, finance, build and operate a 500MW wind farm in the Central Asian country.

Commercial operation of the project in the Zarafshon district of the Navoi region is expected in 2024.

“Masdar is proud to be collaborating with the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on our second utility-scale clean energy project in the country,” Masdar chief executive Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said.
