Egypt’s renewables target was announced in 2008, and includes a 12% target for wind energy – equivalent to 7.2 gigawatts. The country currently has 430MW of installed wind capacity, up from 365MW at the end of 2008, according to the Global Wind Energy Council.
Egypt, which is a significant oil and gas player, is seen as having excellent potential for both wind and solar energy.
