Abu Dhabi clean energy group Masdar made a first move into the Americas with a deal for stakes in two wind farms, on a day when it also ramped up its activity in Europe with agreements covering Iberia and Central Europe.

Masdar – which plans to at least double its portfolio of projects to 8GW over the next five years – agreed to buy UK-based infrastructure group John Laing’s stakes in the 149MW Rocksprings wind farm in Texas and the 30MW Sterling wind farm in New Mexico, both operating since 2017.
