Hopper will assume her new post on 5 January. She will take the helm from acting director Walter Cruickshank, who has been serving on an interim basis since former director Tommy Beaudreau became chief of staff to Secretary Jewell last May.
Hopper now serves as director of the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) where she worked closely with Governor Martin O’Malley, the state legislature, utilities, BOEM and other stakeholders to lay groundwork for launch of an offshore wind industry there.
