The US state of Maryland has approved its selection of GE’s 12MW Haliade-X turbine for the contracted Skipjack offshore wind project, rejecting opponents’ contention the move is inconsistent with state law and not in the public interest.

The Public Service Commission’s unanimous 28-page decision clears the way for Orsted to use an alternative layout with fewer turbines as part of the 120MW project’s Construction and Operations Plan (COP) submitted to federal authorities for approval.
