Malaysia-based oil & gas contractor Sapura Energy has unveiled its first deal in the offshore wind sector.

The offshore services group will transport and install foundations for the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind farm being developed by Wpd subsidiary Yunneng Windpower.

Sapura does not specify how many foundations it will install at the 80-turbine project. Dutch-owned contractor Jumbo said earlier this month that it will be responsible for installation for 40 monopiles at the site.

In May, Siemens Gamesa confirmed supply 80 of its 8MW SG8.0-167s for the wind farm, with Fred Olsen Windcarrier signed up to install the turbines.

The Yunlin project, six kilometres off the southwest coast of Taiwan, will be completed in two phases next year and in 2021.
