Mainstream Renewable Power has confirmed Nordex as the turbine supplier for its 86MW Alena wind project in Chile, after the Irish developer had switched to Vestas for another project (Cerro Tigre) in the country from insolvent Senvion.

Nordex like Senvion is loss-making, but unlike its German peer has a buoyant order pipeline and is expected to be able to weather the current troubles afflicting turbine manufacturers arising from price pressures and a collapse of the German home market.
