Majority shareholder Acciona is injecting €139.2m ($147.2m) into wind turbine manufacturer Nordex, which last week reported widening losses amid supply chain disruptions and higher costs of raw materials and shipping.

The Spanish utility is contributing the funds via a capital increase at Nordex by way of a private placement. The transaction aims at increasing liquidity and strengthening the balance sheet to safeguard against risks from the short-term headwinds affecting the wind sector, the OEM said.

“We highly appreciate and welcome our anchor shareholder Acciona reinforcing its commitment and supporting Nordex with additional equity, as this commitment is an important pillar of our future business development,” Nordex chief executive José Luis Blanco said.
