“If there’s one thing which keeps me awake at night, it’s that we might run out of cables — there is not enough around,” says Rhys Thomas, supply-chain policy officer for trade association RenewableUK, commenting on the huge Round 3 offshore projects.
Thomas calculates that up to 1,000km of export cables will have to be laid each year to meet Britain’s offshore timetable.
