Lithuanian utility Lietuvos Energija has received expressions of interest from seven European offshore wind majors to become a “strategic partner” in developing projects in the country’s swathe of the Baltic Sea.

The names of the developers, described by the company as “all market leaders”, were not disclosed.

In February, Lietuvos Energija launched a two-stage plan to develop the Lithuanian Baltic's wind resource, in which the utility would first take a minority stake in an offshore development “in the European Economic Area” with a established wind developer before then assuming “an active role” in future projects in the region.
