Lithuania has signed a memorandum of understanding with Luxembourg on the possibility of a statistical transfer agreement under EU rules for power from future offshore wind farms, and the two countries may also take their cooperation one step further, Lithuanian energy minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas said.
Lithuania and Luxembourg in 2017 had already pioneered a first statistical transfer deal, under which Lithuania (in exchange for about €10m) agreed to on paper cede a specified amount of renewable energy output to Luxembourg in 2018-20 to help the fellow EU member state meet its 2020 renewables target.
