Lithuania’s cabinet has confirmed plans for the construction of a 700MW offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea by 2030 that is slated to meet a quarter of the Baltic nation’s energy needs.

The energy ministry in May had already submitted a government decree on the location of an area of 137.5 square kilometres, located some 29km from shore, with average water depths of 35 metres, and wind speeds seen at about 9 metre per second, which was now approved by the cabinet.
