Latvia and Estonia could apply for funding from the EU for a 1GW cross-border offshore wind project in the Gulf of Riga that eventually could provide as much as 40% of the latter's power needs.

“The offshore wind farm area developed jointly by Estonia and Latvia is a unique project that contributes to the achievement of the countries’ renewable energy goals and creates new opportunities for other offshore farm developments,” Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas said in a statement by his government.
