Part of a blade from one of the wind turbines at RWE’s Humber Gateway offshore wind farm in the UK broke off after the wind turbine blade sustained damage during recent high frecharwinds.

Disrepair issues with the blade first became apparent in the run-up to Christmas, when an offshore crew spotted a detached component on one of the blades in conditions.

The turbine was taken out of operation and it later became apparent that a section of blade had fallen into the sea, triggering a notice to mariners on 8 January, a spokesperson told Recharge.
