Germany is lacking the necessary manufacturing capacity and skilled workers for a planned massive boost in its offshore wind build-out in coming years, key wind groups warned as they presented new figures showing a timid restart in construction of wind farms at sea last year.
RWE in late 2022 grid-connected the last turbines of its 342MW Kaskasi wind farm in the North Sea, which pushed the cumulated offshore wind capacity in Europe’s largest economy to 8.1GW, according to figures by Deutsche Windguard that were commissioned by six wind groups.
