Japanese offshore wind set for lift-off as key law is passed

Japan’s offshore wind market is set to spark into life with tenders as early as spring 2019 after its parliament passed a long-awaited law to underpin development.

The Offshore Wind General Waters Bill (the ‘New Bill’) received approval by the Japanese Cabinet back in March this year but failed earlier to secure a passage in the parliament, the Diet, due to political issues.
