Belgian installer Jan de Nul Group has signed a contract with Swedish utility Vattenfall to transport and install 72 Siemens Gamesa 8.4MW turbines for the 600MW Kriegers Flak offshore project off Denmark.

Installation works will start in the first quarter of 2021 and are expected to take four months.

“We are proud to have been awarded an offshore WTG installation project of this magnitude,” said Jan de Nul offshore director Philippe Hutse.

“It confirms that Jan De Nul is a trustworthy experienced partner in installing large wind farms at sea.”

The Kriegers Flak project is located in the Baltic Sea in water depths varying between 15 and 30 metres, at 15 kilometres from shore.

In 2017-18, Jan De Nul already built, towed and installed two large gravity based foundations for the offshore substations at Kriegers Flak.
