Relight Enerji Üretim has received authorization for the wind farms with a total capacity of about 205 megawatts (MW) to be built near Balikesir. They are expected to be operational by 2010.
The Istanbul-based company says overall investment in the Turkish wind farms will be €300m.
Relight hopes for further development in Turkey. Other projects totaling over 460MW are under evaluation by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), the Turkish agency in charge of granting the license for the construction of new energy plants.
