Bord Gáis has been focused for decades on supplying and distributing natural gas throughout Ireland. Since entering Ireland’s residential electricity in 2008 to compete with Airtricity and ESB, however, it has drawn up plans to invest €1.2bn into wind-energy projects to broaden its revenue stream.
The €500m deal would cover 180 megawatts (MW) of operational wind farms, including the 45MW Kilgarvan and the 41MW Inchincoosh projects, as well as 500MW of projects under development.
