Insurance giant Allianz made its debut foray into offshore wind ownership with a deal to buy a 25.2% stake in the 1.5GW Hollandse Kust South in the Dutch North Sea.

Allianz – a regular equity investor in onshore wind and solar plants – will buy the shareholding from German chemicals giant BASF, which itself in June bought a 49.5% stake from lead developer Vattenfall.
