Siemens unveiled plans to spin-off and list a €2bn ($2.2bn) wind-focused company that bundles up its key technology and engineering businesses for the sector into its Flender unit.

The German group will merge its Wind Energy Generation unit into Flender – best known in the industry for its Winergy brand – before listing it next year.

With Winergy, Flender is among the world’s biggest suppliers of gearboxes to the global wind industry.
