Wind turbine giant Vestas at the close of 2021 has reported large orders in core markets in Europe and the Americas, which combined top 1.1GW in capacity and show an increasing trend towards repowering.

Despite the year-end sprint, combined orders in the fourth quarter have been weak, though, likely a sign the OEM is trying to push through substantial price hikes, which could prolong contract negotiations.

The OEM has won a 257MW order from Windkoepel Groen for seven projects in the southern Dutch province of Flevoland.
