Renewable energy developer Iberdrola has completed construction of the first turbine at its A$500m ($380m) hybrid wind and solar Port Augusta project in South Australia.

The utility in 2019 announced the 317MW project as its entry into the promising Asia-Pacific market.

Iberdrola has since stepped up its involvement in the region through the acquisition of a majority stake in Australia’s largest green energy operator, Infigen, and is also co-developing a 600MW offshore wind project in Japan.
