Spanish renewables giant Iberdrola as expected has exercised its legal entry right for the O-1.3 site in the German Baltic Sea, which it had pre-developed as Windanker project, snapping the 300MW area away from RWE, which had won it in an offshore wind tender earlier this year.

The legal entry right rule in Germany’s 1GW offshore wind tender this year was introduced as a compensation for companies that had incurred dozens of millions of euros in development costs for an area, but still didn't win with that project in 2017 or 2018 auctions that were exclusively for pre-developed zones.
