The Dry Lake 2 project will be built on about 41sq km of grasslands dotted with juniper in east-central Arizona. The land is currently used for ranching and grazing, which would continue.
The county board of supervisors voted 4-1 to permit development of a meteorological tower and up to 43 wind turbines with a maximum total capacity of 65.1MW.
Last autumn, Iberdrola dedicated the first phase of the Dry Lake project – Arizona’s first utility scale wind project.
