The swept area of the 136m rotor on the new HTW5.2-136 variant is 15% larger than that of its predecessor, the HTW5.0-126 offshore wind turbine.

The newly modified design is suitable for use in areas with annual average wind speeds under 7.5 m/s.

The company claims that its downwind machines reduce wind loads, as the rotor is placed downwind of the tower, where it is not hit by crosswinds, even when the turbine is switched off in strong wind conditions.
