The turbine is now being mounted on an advanced spar buoy at the port of Sumoto, Hyogo prefecture.
It was initially scheduled for installation off the coast of Fukushima prefecture by February or March of this year.
The Marubeni-led consortium — which is backed by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) — will start towing the turbine and floater to the east coast of the island of Honshu from 1 July.
