The utility issued a request for proposals in April.
HECO says the three finalists, which it did not name, are proposing battery storage solutions.
“Each finalist is an internationally recognized company with over a decade of energy storage experience including working with electric utilities,” says Colton Ching, vice president for energy delivery at HECO.
He says the utility is now in negotiations with the companies and hopes to sign contracts with all three.
